Why I’m not worried about Ann Coulter

By Dominique Millette

I’m not worried about Ann Coulter, who is now on a grand tour of Canada (which she once said was lucky to be allowed to exist on the same continent as the US of A), because she’s Howard Stern, or worse, Glenn Beck, in a mini-dress: ignorant, loud and easy to debunk in ten words or less.

Those of us who are intelligent and well-educated don’t listen to her anyway.

Those who do, would remain troglodytes without her.

It’s much more difficult to pick apart conventional wisdom which upholds the kyriarchy in subtle yet powerful ways, day by day, blink by blink. Yet, this is the work which is most important: pointing out the water in which we swim, the inequalities everyone accepts and no one seems to realize, the so-called gender differences which are actually social constructs and yet are peddled to us as biologically ineluctable.

Ann Coulter will go back where she comes from and will change nothing. We will have work to do with or without her.
