What a fascinating case. I'll try to look it up.  This is clearly an area where the law is confused.

Polygamy difference USA and Canada

In Canada two different women have asked to be judged to have two simultaneous husbands and the courts have allowed this and do not charge with Bigamy or Polygamy. The court case synopsis's state that a person can have as many spouses as they prefer.

It happened in Saskatchewan only, a province in Canada. No other provinces in Canada have yet adopted this law apparently.

Are polygamist wives abusers or abused?

The women of the FLDS had their children taken away from them.  Kids under four were apparently allowed to stay.  

What is the legal status of these sister wives?   Besides losing many of their children--at least temporarily, will they also be prosecuted for abetting the illegal underage marriage?  Or will they also be treated like victims and given help?
